Congratulations to this week’s Showcase Cinemas High School Team of the Week: North Providence High School Cheerleading Team

This week’s spotlight was sent in by: Deana Barlow and Darlene Clarke

The Competition Cheer Team had an amazing season, said Deana Barlow.  The dedication and commitment of these ten girls are evident with three huge accomplishments in Division II Competition Cheer.

March 4, 2023 – They were the RICCA Division II Champions
March 11, 2023 – They were the RIIL Division II Champions (They were back-to-back State Champions!)

March 18, 2023 – They won another medal placing 3rd at the New England Spirit Championship. (They were the only RI team in their division to place.) 

The support they give each other on and off the mat is honorable, added Darlene Clarke. The support they give to the other teams, their sportsmanship conduct. These girls work so hard, and it shows. My daughter is a senior, and I believe being in cheer has taught her a lot of discipline. Coach Giana Nassi also added that the team recently volunteered to attend and cheer at two charity basketball games at the HS, one was for a student’s senior project and the other was the police vs. teacher charity game. This school year they also volunteered at an event to collect food/toys for families in the community for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
