We all know how lucky we are to live in a place where there are so many choices for delicious cuisine, but we’re not the only ones who recognize RI’s greatness. There have been several food shows that have featured Rhode Island for our unique & delectable options.
1. Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives
Seems as though Guy Fieri can’t get enough of Rhode Island! He’s taken his Food Network show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives to many of our favorite restaurants, including Aunt Carrie’s in Narragansett, Italian Corner in East Providence, and Mediterraneo on Federal Hill.
2. Man v. Food
Travel Channel’s Adam Richman is just like you & me – he loves RI eats. Some of his favorites are Bob & Timmy’s Grilled Pizza, Olneyville NY System (home of the Hot Wiener Challenge), & Haven Brothers Diner.
3. Bizarre Foods America
Andrew Zimmern’s first trip to Little Rhody features many RI highlights. He stops at Venda Ravioli, has a cabinet at Wayland Square Diner, and harvests oysters with Matunuck Oyster Bar owner Perry Raso.
4. Food Network's The Best Of
Jill Cordes and Marc Silverstein host this show in which they scour the nation for the best food. Flo’s Clam Shack in Middletown makes the cut with their clam cakes, chowder, calamari, and other Rhode Island staples.
5. Bar Rescue
Okay, so this may not be something to brag about, but Bar Rescue host Jon Taffer visited Warwick to rescue Marley’s on the Beach (renamed St. Michelle’s Beach Club during the show). The restaurant has since closed, but here’s a harsh review via Martin T. on Yelp regarding Bar Rescue’s involvement:
“Marleys made the mistake of brining in Bar Rescue this summer of 2013. That idiot Jon from that show is a complete incompetent when it came to fixing Marleys. I won’t go into why and hows but I’ve seen the food quality go down and I’ve seen the new wait staff (overstaff young people just standing around) quality go down. The drinks are meh, okay but here is how bad the food is and why doesn’t the owner care? Who knows.”
